Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 27, 2010 in Chapel of The Pines Mausoleum in Parkhill Cemetery with Reverend Scott Hagan and Mr. Tommy Mayton officiating.
Mr. Cummings was born September 9, 1925 in Bleeker, Alabama, son of the late William C. Cummings, Sr. and Minnie Maye Cummings. He was a veteran of WWII. Following his discharge from the military, he attended Auburn University and graduated in 1949 with a Bachelors Degree in Building Construction. After working several years with the W.M. Crawford Construction Company, he and his good friend, Joseph A. Brannan formed the Brannan Cummings Construction Company. After his retirement in 1990, he enjoyed his love of Golf by playing often. Mr. Cummings was a charter member of the Green Island Country Club and was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church.
Mr. Cummings is survived by his wife Betty H. Cummings, his two daughters, Sharolyn and her husband, Col. Craig M. Childress of Fairfax, VA, and Jeanne Cummings Flowers of Columbus, GA; granddaughter, Caitlyn Childress and her husband Jason Bergeron of Woodbridge, VA; grandson, Benjamin Sagan Flowers of Columbus, GA; great grandchildren, Ian Bergeron, and Megan Bergeron of Woodbridge, VA; brothers-in-law, Robert Anderson Hight and his wife, Willaminta of Spartanburg, SC, and Dr. Don Hight and his wife, Gwen of Winder, GA; several nieces and nephews.
