Waverly Hall, Georgia- William "Aubrey" Rhodes, 73 of Waverly Hall, Georgia died Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the Edgewood Hall at Striffler-Hamby, Columbus. Family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 in the St. Elmo room at Striffler-Hamby. Burial will be in Parkhill Cemetery.
Aubrey Rhodes was born on July 9, 1941 in Alabama near the town of Glenwood. Mr. Rhodes loved to race whether it was watching the motorcycles race around the track behind his former shop in South Columbus or racing his own race car around EAMS where he had a lot of fans, even after racing motorcycles and cars his competitive nature changed to Pasofino horses where he would ride and show with his wife Shelby. Mr. Rhodes was co-owner of AAW Dump Trucks, ltd. He was a huge influence to many and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
Survivors include his wife Shelby Rhodes, children Lonya, Mitchell, and Felice; stepson Brad McKnight; eight grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren; sister, Janice Holt; brothers, John Rhodes and Raymond Rhodes; numerous nieces, nephews, great friends and other relatives.
