

William Lee Schance, age 83, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Monday January 15, 2018. William was born December 29, 1934, in Alliance, Nebraska to his late parents Gilbert and Pearl Winters Schance. He was a man of many talents. He taught school in a one room school house in Nebraska, served his country proudly for fifteen years in the National Guard, owned and operated his Dry Wall business, was very involved with his church, yet still found time to spend with his beloved family.
William is survived by: his loving wife of 60 years, Lucile Schance; two brothers, Robert W. Schance, and Gilbert W. (Judy) Schance; two sisters, Doris Milks, and Martha (Stan) Applegate; two daughters, Janet S. (Chris) Autry, and Adonna S. (Art) Clark; grandchildren, Christopher W. Autry, Seth D. (Jessie) Autry, Carter (Amanda) Woolfolk, William Z. Woolfolk, Frances R. Woolfolk, and Connie C. (Richard) Nicholson; great grandchildren, Michael Hughes, Abigail R. Autry, Luke M. Parks, Waylon Bradley, and Emma K, Nicholson.
The family will welcome guests for a Celebration of William’s Life Visitation Friday, January 19, 2018 from 6-8 pm in The Mill Room of Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Rd. Columbus, GA. A Graveside Service will be Saturday, January 20 at 1:00 pm in Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Rd. Columbus, GA, officiated by Pastor Jimmy Culpepper.
