Wilson Harold Butts

Born February 10, 1956, in Columbus, Georgia, Wilson was the son of the late William Pierce Butts and Lois Wilson Butts.

A 1974 graduate of Baker High School in Columbus, Wilson spent his career in the moving and storage industry, where he served as General Manager of Covan Worldwide Moving and ALS Van Lines. Throughout his career, Wilson was known for his strong work ethic, his ability to connect with people, and his willingness to lend a hand whenever one was needed.

At the center of Wilson’s life was his wife of 49 years, Rebecca “Becky” Sue Martin Butts. Becky was his rock, his partner, and his constant companion through nearly five decades of marriage. Together they built a life centered around family, love, and countless memories.

Wilson had a genuine love for people and a caring, service-oriented spirit. He never met a stranger and was happiest when he could help someone else, whether through a kind word, a helping hand, or simply being there when he was needed. His generosity and easy way with people left an impression on those fortunate enough to know him.

He loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed time spent in the North Georgia mountains. A devoted Alabama football fan, Wilson could always be counted on to cheer for the Crimson Tide. He also loved cooking and grilling, but some of his greatest joy came from simply being surrounded by family.

Wilson held a particularly special place in his heart for his granddaughters, Brooklyn and Faith. He treasured the time he spent with them and took great pride in watching them grow. Being their “Papa” was one of the great joys of his life.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Rebecca “Becky” Sue Martin Butts of Waverly Hall, GA; his daughter, Charis Michelle Bertrand (Cameron) of Acworth, GA; and his granddaughters, Brooklyn and Faith Bertrand. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Willa Dean Martin of Atlanta, GA; his brothers-in-law, Marty Martin (Julia) of Dothan, AL, and Daniel Martin (Dave) of Atlanta, GA; along with extended family and many friends whose lives were touched by his kindness and friendship.

In addition to Wilson loving the Lord and being a man of faith, he will be remembered for his love of family, his generous heart, his humor and easy conversation, and his willingness to show up for others.

A Celebration of Life honoring Wilson will be held Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary in Columbus, Georgia. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a life well lived and a man deeply loved.
