Yvonne Sharp Banks, age 75, entered eternal rest on February 9, 2026, peacefully surrounded by those who loved her most. Born on April 2, 1950, in Atlanta, GA, she was the cherished daughter of the late Rufus D. Sharp, Sr. and Chestina Barge Sharp, and the fourth of five children.
Yvonne accepted Christ at an early age and joined Cobb Bethel A.M.E. Church, where her foundation of faith was formed. She attended Thomas Oliver Elementary School and later graduated from South Fulton High School in 1968.
She faithfully served 30 years with AT&T in operator services before retiring in April 2001. In her quiet time, she enjoyed sewing and reading—simple pleasures that brought her peace and fulfillment.
Family was Yvonne’s greatest joy. She was a steady source of love, wisdom, and encouragement. Her gentle strength, warm heart, and enduring faith touched everyone blessed to know her.
She leaves to celebrate her life and legacy her daughter, Michelle, and son-in-love, Cory Cobb; grandchildren DaMario McFadgen, Ebone Cobb, and Sydarrian Cobb; former husband and friend Walter Banks and his wife, Tressa; their children, Brandi and Rashad; honorary granddaughter Kaylen Kenon; her fur grandbabies, M’Baku, Chase and Jefe; her brother, Wardell (Catherine) Sharp; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Sandra Sharp Powell, Rufus D. Sharp, Jr., and Jacqueline Jacobs; and her nephew, Ronald Powell.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” Her work is finished, and her rest is won.
