Betty J. Burns

Betty had a love for animals, especially horses, dogs and cats. She also enjoyed music, ballet and watching classic movies. But above all she found joy in helping others, especially those less fortunate than she.

She was a former employee of Cummins, US Products, Irwin Management Company and Columbus Bank.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joshua Francis and Minnie Elizabeth (Ping) Burns; brothers, Robert and Joseph Burns; sister, Mary Burns-Jacobs; brother-in-law, Meredith O. “Jake” Jacobs; and sister-in-law, Rebekah Burns.

Survivors include her nieces, Jane Hoffmeister-Repp and Elizabeth Reeves; nephews, Tom Burns, Jeffery Burns, Stephen Burns, Scott Burns, Howard Burns and Joseph Burns; nine great-nieces and great-nephews; 11 great-great-nieces and great-great nephews; and sister-in-law, Mary Burns.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, April 23, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church, 512 7th St., Columbus with Rev. Dr. Felipe N. Martínez officiating. The family will receive friends in the Laws Room following the service.
