Cathryn Ann (Kay) Newton, 88, of Columbus passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at The Belmont in Columbus. She was born February 10, 1937 in MaQuoketa, Iowa the beloved daughter of Clive and Helen Pankow.
Kay's goal in life was to help provide for her family the same way her parents provided for her. A graduate of Columbus High School she worked for the Indiana Gas Company and retired from there.
On August 25, 1957, Kay married James Newton and they remained married until his death on July 4, 2022. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church; she enjoyed watching Cincinnati Reds Baseball games, Indy Car Racing, Dinner Theaters, Elvis Presley, and was a Pug Dog lover.
Kay is survived by her two daughters, Susan (Ronnie Denson) and Loisann (Mike) Ayala; four grandsons, Michael, Daniel, Patrick, Shawn Ayala; and two brothers, Jim (Sandy) Pankow and Chris (Denise) Pankow. In addition to her husband, Kay was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation is scheduled for Monday, March 17, 2025 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM in Myers-Reed Chapel, 3729 25th Street and from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Tuesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 6045 E State St, Columbus. Funeral Services are Scheduled for Tuesday at 11:00 AM at the church with Pastor Douglas Bauman officiating. Burial will follow in Garland Brook Cemetery.
