Claudia Joanne Martin

Mrs. Martin was born in Fort Hood, TX, on July 26, 1956, the daughter of Finis E. Martin Jr. and Claudia Joanne Baxter-Denton Martin.

She was a Registered Nurse at Volunteers in Medicine and was working on a Master’s Degree in Nursing.

Mrs. Martin was a member of Lakeview Church of Christ in Columbus. She enjoyed her grandchildren and cross stitching, quilting, baking, reading and listening to classical music and hymns.

A memorial service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 25, 2011, at Lakeview Church of Christ at 4040 N. Road 150W, with Evangelist Rich Gant officiating.

Calling hours will be at the church from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Volunteers in Medicine, 836 Jackson St., Columbus, IN 47201.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Myers-Reed Chapel and The Columbus Crematory.

Mrs. Martin is survived by her best friend, Ivan Valdes; two daughters, Karis Valdes and Francisca (Alvaro Panitrur) Valdes; two sons, Ruben Valdes and Griffin (Amanda) Valdes; two sisters, Brenda (Johnny Menz) Menz-Martin and Rebecca Martin; two brothers, Finis Martin III and Nathan Martin; and two grandchildren, Noah and Tyler Valdes.
