Corie was born October 27, 1976 in Columbus, Indiana to Randall and Jean Boots Wheeler. She attended Columbus East High School where she was a Special Olympian, and graduated in 1994.
She worked as a volunteer for Lifetime Resources and was a member of the Girl Scouts Tulip Trace Council.
Corie was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Columbus. She participated in many church activities and was involved in several church groups throughout the years including the church Choir and the Fellow Strugglers S.S. Class.
Corie was a fitness enthusiast and loved to exercise. She loved being around people and had an innate ability to make friends with anyone. Those blessed to know her would agree that Corie never met a stranger.
Corie is survived by her brother, Michael Wheeler of San Diego, California; two sisters, Penny Bruegemann of Half Moon Bay, California and Kelly Rocchio of Hayward, California; cousin, Lea Laswell of Panama City, Florida; and several other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Randall and Jean Wheeler; and her grandparents, Wilmer and Corinne Boots and Dan and Doris Wheeler.
A funeral service for Corie will be held Saturday, February 25 at 1 pm at First Baptist Church with Pastors Dan Cash and Jon Carlstrom officiating. Friends may gather for visitation from 4 pm to 7 pm on Friday at Myers-Reed Chapel 3729 25th Street. Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church Foundation.
