

Miss Stofer was a 1959 graduate of Indiana State University where she earned both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree. She retired in 1997 after 38 years as an elementary school teacher with Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation. She also taught at North Vernon and Kent School
She was a member of St Bartholomew Catholic Church, Columbus Regional Hospital Auxiliary, Bartholomew County Retired Teachers Association and American Business Women’s Association where she was named Woman of the Year in 1974. She also belonged to Gamma Gamma Chapter of Sigma Kappa Sorority and volunteered at Southside School library, St. Bartholomew Catholic Church and the Humane Society.
She was very interested in community service and was especially devoted to her three cats, Mokie, Scamp and Tiger Baby. She loved all flowers and crossword puzzles.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church with Father Clem Davis officiating. Calling will be from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Arrangements were made by Hathaway-Myers Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Lymphoma or Pulmonary Hypertension Research.
Born in Columbus March 7, 1938, Miss Stofer was the daughter of George W. and Juanita Z. Curran Stofer.
She is survived by a sister, Patricia R. Stofer, and a brother, George Richard Stofer, both of Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
