

Dean Myron Howe, a respected and cherished member of the Columbus, Indiana community, passed away on December 28, 2025, at the age of 93. Born on February 25, 1932, in Decatur County, Indiana, Dean lived a life full of dedication and passion.
Dean was a 1951 graduate of Jackson High School in Decatur County, where he was a proud member of the 1951 Sectional Champion basketball team. His early years were marked by a strong sense of community and teamwork, traits that he carried throughout his life.
Professionally, Dean was a part-time farmer and dedicated 35 years of service to Cummins, from which he retired. His career was characterized by commitment and excellence, earning him the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends alike.
Dean's personal interests included his membership at Newbern United Methodist Church and his love for sports. He was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds and Indiana University basketball, passions that brought joy and camaraderie to his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cosam R. and Eva (Sherman) Howe; sister, Margaret McClintic; and brothers, William and Dale Howe.
"Uncle Dean" had eight nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 2, 2026 at Myers-Reed Chapel with Rev. Al White officiating. Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Visitation will also be on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until service time.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dean's name are suggested to the Four Seasons Retirement Center Employees Christmas Fund, 1901 Taylor Rd., Columbus, IN 47203.
Dean's life was a testament to hard work, community involvement, and the joy of sports. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
