Obituary of Donald R. Bean

Donald R. Bean, 78, of Grammer died at 2:34 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2019, at his home surrounded by family. Donald was born in Freetown, Indiana August 2, 1940, the son of Ray and Luceal Bowman Bean. He married Diana D. Cutsinger February 27, 1960 in Columbus; she preceded him in death November 13, 1999. He worked for Cummins Engine Company 30 years, retiring in 2003. He was a member of Columbus American Legion Post #24. He loved to mow grass, was an avid sports fan including racing and loved being with his family. He is survived by sons, David (Rena) Bean of Scipio and Dwayne (Melissa A.) Bean of Columbus; daughter, Donetta (Richard) Mead of Columbus; daughter-in-law Melissa Bean of Columbus; sisters, Mary Jane (Ernie) Brown of Sioux Falls, S.D. and Magnola Tolbert of Franklin, IN; 15 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sons, Ronald Lee and Douglas Bean; grandchildren Isabella Bean and Jason Litiken. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Myers~Reed Chapel on 25th Street with Virgil Clotfelter officiating. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. to service time Tuesday. Burial with Military Honors by the Bartholomew County Veteran’s Honor Guard will be in Garland Brook Cemetery.
