

Mr. Scheidt had worked for Arvin Industries, retiring as a vice president of marketing and sales in 1993 after 45 years of service. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.
A 1950 graduate of Purdue University, with a degree in mechanical engineering, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed basketball and baseball in high school, played with the Columbus Merchants baseball team and enjoyed golf and tennis.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 1800 W. Maple Rd., Birmingham, MI, with the Rev. Randy Schlak officiating. Calling will be at the church from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday and from 2:30 p.m. until service time Sunday. Burial will be at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy, MI.
Local arrangements were made by Hathaway-Myers Chapel on Pearl Street.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Sacred Space at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer.

Born in Columbus Dec. 15, 1928, Mr. Scheidt was the son of Lawrence and Emma Ortstadt Scheidt. He married Edra Jean Leist Oct. 12, 2002, in Birmingham, MI.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Sandy (Stephen) Birge of Rochester Hills, MI; sons, Steve (Rosemary) Scheidt of Birmingham, MI, Rick (Kay) Scheidt, Bloomfield Hills, MI, and Bob Scheidt of White Lake Township, MI; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Geraldine Gore Scheidt, in 2001; a sister, Frances Fischvogt; and a brother, Harlan Scheidt.
