Dorothy Doty

Dorothy M. Doty, 87 of Columbus, IN died at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper, IN at 2:30am on Friday July 6, 2012. Born in Bartholomew County June 18, 1925, Mrs. Doty was the daughter of William & Helen (Cornish) Shroyer. She married Francis J. Doty 11-20-1949 and he died 3-30-1983.

She worked for Reliance and later was a homemaker and healthcare giver. She was a lifetime member of Bethel Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the choir. Her hobbies included gardening, sewing, cooking, singing, was a Girl Scout & 4-H leader for many years and was very involved with the Voters Registration.

The funeral will be at 10:00am Monday July 9th at Hathaway-Myers Chapel on Pearl St. in Columbus with Pastor James Harris officiating. Visitation will be Sunday the 8th from 2-6pm and Monday from 9:00am until service time on Monday. Burial will be at Bethel Baptist Cemetery in Columbus, IN.

Survivors include her daughter, Rachel (Bruce) Reinhart of Jasper, IN, and son, Larry (Nancy) Doty of Indianapolis, IN.; 7 grandchildren, Grant Reinhart, Holly Weyer, Matt Reinhart of Jasper, Stacey Poleny of Florida, Kimberly Hyer of Florida, Meghan Doty and Leah Doty of Indianapolis. She is also survived by 16 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Julie Ketchum, brothers William Shroyer and Robert Shroyer and sisters Mildred Doty, Jean Dishinger and Helen Clarkson and great-grandson Erin Reinhart.
