Gary Lee Walker

Gary L.Walker, 61, of Columbus, died at 8:30 AM, Saturday, March 16th, 2013, at IU Health-Methodist in Indianapolis. He was retired from Corning Glass Works where he was a supervisor in the Steuben Glass Division for 11 years in Corning New York. He graduated from Columbus High School in 1969 and from the University Of Cincinnati School Of Business in 1973. He was recruited to wrestle for the Bearcats and was a 3 time letter winner. He helped coach the wrestling team at East for over 20 years. Gary also helped start the wrestling club at East. He was a past recipient of the Crammer award. He enjoyed hunting fishing and sports of any kind. He is survived by his wife Patricia L. Sonderman Walker, who he married 6-3-72 in Cincinnati; his mother, Beverly Garrett, both of Columbus; brothers, Brian (Susan) Walker, Greenwood and Mark (Julie) Garrett, Columbus; his loving mother-in-law, Billie Sonderman, Ft. Myers, FL and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Curtiss J. Walker, father Dean Walker Jr., and step father Floyd Garrett. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Curtiss and Gary Walker Wrestling Fund or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana. A gathering of family and friends will be held 3-30-13 from 2:00 until 3:00 p. m. with a Celebration of Life at 3:00 p. m. A reception will follow. Please join Patty and the family at the Elks Lodge, 4664 Ray Boll Blvd., Columbus.
