

Born on September 7, 1980, in Greensburg, Indiana, Jack was a man whose larger-than-life personality left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. He was a devoted family man who treasured every opportunity to gather with those he loved. Whether celebrating holidays, attending family functions, or simply spending time together, Jack found his greatest joy in being surrounded by family and friends.
Jack will be remembered for his huge heart, infectious smile, unforgettable laugh, and remarkable sense of humor. He never met a stranger, welcoming everyone with kindness and warmth that made them feel like an old friend. His generous spirit and willingness to help others reflected the caring person he was. Jack also shared a special bond with his beloved dog, Luna, who brought him endless companionship and happiness.
Jack was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jim and Edna Layton and Jack Harvey Grissom; his uncle, Leslie Phelps; and his nephew, Gage Cleland.
He is survived by his loving parents, Brenda Roe of Columbus and Jay (Cecelia) Grissom of Westport; his grandmother, Ethel Dougherty of Westport; his siblings, Jessica Grissom of Columbus, Brittany (Derek Elkins) Cleland of Columbus, Laura Betsy (Chad) Edmonds of Fort Wayne, Traci (Kaleb) Etter of Columbus, Tyler Grissom of Shelbyville, Nick (Kloe) Grissom of Columbus, and Emmy (Kyle) Bumbala of Greensburg; his stepsister, Stacy (Craig) Roth of Columbus; his brother-in-law, Damon Smith of Columbus; his longtime companion, Sherry Henson of Columbus; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends who will forever cherish his memory.
A Celebration of Jack’s Life will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at The Forge on 4th, 418 Fourth Street, Columbus, Indiana 47201.
