Mr Young and family,

I think of you every day when emptying water bottles, something you taught us in class.  I wanted to tell you and see that you,ve gone on to teach the world.  

My sincere condolences to your family.

I am very sorry for your loss.  I had Mr. Young for chemistry at Columbus East.  He was a very caring man, and nurtured my love of science.  I have never forgotten him, and will remember him and you in my prayers.

Had Mr. Young as a chemistry teacher at East Noble High School in Kendallville, In.  Great guy and great teacher. We learned a lot and had a good time doing so.

Priscilla, I just saw on the internet that Jack died on Sept. 15.  I extend my deepest sympathy to you and the family.  If you remember, he and I were roommates when we both started teaching in East Noble.  He was a terrific guy, a good friend, and I applaud his tremendous positive impact on so many lives.

I am a 1979 graduate of CEHS. I am one of those "100s of students who continued on to be a pharmacist because of Mr Young". He saw something in me and encouraged me to pursue a career in Pharmacy at Purdue. I have been a retail Pharmacist for 28 years - and have loved every day of it. My pivotal day is a fun story to tell ... He approached me and said that Purdue had a new tornado simulator and he was going to take 3 students up on Saturday to see it. He wanted me to be one of them. I thought why not. In the car on the way up, I told him I was not at all interested in weather as a career choice. He laughed and said he had me pegged for Pharmacy. He told me he wanted me to take a good look at Purdue's campus and think hard about Pharmacy as I had a great love for Chemistry. I applied for Pharmacy school without an alternate plan. Mr Young was an amazing man. He loved Chemistry, but loved teaching and molding successful young adults even more. I am very blessed and honored to have been taken under his guiding wing. I have told many people over the years of my story, including my children. What a tremendous impact he had on my life. I have always lived out-of-state, but had the pleasure of ringing his doorbell in 1991 while pregnant with my 3rd child. He recognized me immediately and was thrilled to hear of my successful Pharmacy career. Mr Young is the reason I am a Pharmacist today. May God continue to bless his loving family. My prayers are with you.

Priscilla, we go back a long way.  I want you to know that when I read of Jack's passing I thought of you.  Prayers go out to you and your family.

I knew Jack back to 1991 whe I came to East.  He was an outstanding teacher, but he was a better man.  It was my good fortune and honor to have some great years with him at East.  He truly epitomized what the school was, and is about,quality human relationships centered around learning.  All my best to Priscilla and the family during this trying.time.  I will truly miss him.

I worked with Jack at IUPUC and he was a wonderful, fun, and positive person - great memories!  He certainly delivered the best Orientation presentations, with his rainbow song and his green puppet assistant.  He will be missed!

Many teach, but the true teacher is a unique individual.  Jack was such a man.  Born to teach, not only subject matter but also life skills that will stay with all his former students forever.  His love of his work and the proficiency with he performed his craft was a joy to behold.  For those of us who have taught, are teaching or aspire to teach, Jack Young is the gold standard of the profession.  We are blessed to have been touched by his life as students, colleagues and friends.  My dear friend....may you rest it peace.

I am very sad to hear this news.  Mr. Young was one of my most favorite teachers. I had him at East in 2003.  If it was not for him and his love of teaching, I would have never understood Chemistry.  He was a very dedicated teacher. He always made sure every student understood every part of Chemistry and if they did not, he would spend all the time in the world with them until they did.  I know there were many of times I would come for help and he would stay with me until it clicked.  He was such a fun, loving guy. He would also have a new joke to tell us. There is not one student that he taught that did not enjoy him as a teacher.  I really enjoyed all of our conversations and will cherish every moment. Oh, and I know everyone who has watched his Kermit the Frog act will never forget that!  

When I graduated from East in 2005, I was sad to hear he was retiring but was thrilled to see him teaching at IUPUC.  I would always run into him there and we would talk for awhile.  He would always talk about his family and you could tell he was so proud of them! 

I know there are a lot of fellow classmates who are very sad to hear this news. Mr. Young will always be in our hearts and minds! He will be missed by many.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

Mr. Young was one the greatest teachers I've ever had. He not only had a significant impact on my education but on my life as well. He made learning science fun and always encouraged me (as well as other students) to follow my passion.His love of teaching was evident, he gave so much of his time to helping students learn. I doubt any student ever left Mr. Youngs class not understanding that chemistry really is life. He brightened everyones day and always had a joke or two to tell. His cheerful and optimistic personality made him a pleasure to know and chat with. The students and faculty at IUPUC as well as the community of Columbus will miss him dearly. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family.

I was so saddened to learn that Jack had passed away. He was the best chemistry teacher the world has ever seen. It broke my heart when he told our class that he had cancer. After I transferred to another school I tried to keep in touch by sending cards or asking a friend back home how Jack was doing. I even dropped by his home one day to chat. He was a wonderful teacher and a great mentor. He will missed by many. My prayers go out to your family.

I am so sad to hear of the loss of Mr. Young.  He was one of the best teachers I ever had. He had a passion for chemistry and education. He had an amazing power to engage students and make them excited about science. A legend in my eyes.

Mr. Young was a kind and brilliant teacher who was able to connect science with human experience. With every lecture, demo and lab experiment we, as students and as people, appreciated him more with every day.  My condolences to his family, friends and to all those who remember the 'connection' and smile.

Mr. Young was hands-down one of the best teachers I ever had. He encouraged our curiosity and truly loved getting us interested in chemistry. I have so many fond memories of spending my lunch mod at East with him working on more challenging equations than he gave us in class or in the lab going beyond what we did that day - just because I was interested. He will be dearly missed, and I am so, so sorry for your loss.

I would like to express my sympathy to your family, Jack was a loyal customer of mine at the Marathon station and he also taught my daughter chemistry it IUPUC he was a very friendly and kind man, our prayers are with your family..

We want to express our deepest sympathy.  My husband and I had Mr. Young for Chemistry at IUPUC and we were both very fond of him as a teacher.  He will always be remembered as one of those teachers who made learning enjoyable.
