Obituary of Janie M. Hardesty

Janie M. Hardesty, 71, of Columbus, died Thursday February 7, 2019 at Columbus Regional Hospital, surrounded by friends and family who loved her dearly. She was born March 15, 1947 in Greenfield, IN, to Henry B. and Mary M. Miller. She graduated from North Vernon High School in 1965. Janie was a member of Memorial Baptist Church for 40 years. She also worked for the American Heart Association and the MOPS Program at Grace Lutheran Church. She loved being with her family and playing board games with her grandchildren. Janie also loved gathering with “The Gang” and traveling with them. Survivors include her loving husband of 53 years, Donald Hardesty; daughters, Kimberley Ann (John) Stewart of Arthur, IL and Donna Jane (Robert) Lund of Fishers, IN; siblings, Carol “June” King of Forest, IN and Phillip G. Miller of Columbus, IN; and grandchildren, Graeme, Eilis and Aiden Stewart, and Olivia and Ethan Lund. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and seven siblings. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 11, 2019 at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th St., with Pastor Kristi Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 – 5 p.m. Sunday, and from 10 – 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
