Jerry was born on July 3, 1946, near Celina, Tennessee, to Clearl and Lula Littrell. At the age of four, Jerry moved with his family to Columbus, Indiana, the place he proudly called home for the rest of his life.
A proud patriot, Jerry honorably served his country in the U.S. Army, including a year of service in Vietnam. Following his military service, he dedicated his entire professional career to Cummins Engine Company. Driven to excel in his work, Jerry returned to school while working full-time and earned a degree in quality engineering from IUPUC. Deeply invested in his community, Jerry gave back in many ways over the years, including serving on local boards such as Columbus Parks and Recreation as well as Ceraland Park.
In 2005, Jerry married his loving wife, Maxine. Together, they worshiped faithfully at Sandy Hook United Methodist Church and shared a wonderful life filled with travel, good friends, and cherished family time.
Jerry’s life was defined by his devotion to family and sports. He was an unwavering source of support for his sons, Chris and Jody, in all their pursuits, and built deep, lasting relationships with his step-children, Megan, Shanan, and Brett. A beloved grandfather, "Papaw" Jerry cherished spending time with his grandchildren, often caring for them, cheering them on from the sidelines, and celebrating every school and sporting accomplishment.
Baseball and softball were lifelong passions for Jerry. Over the years, he coached numerous Little League and Babe Ruth baseball teams to regional and state championships. A diehard New York Yankees fan, he loved recounting stories of his visits to both Old and New Yankee Stadium. Jerry was equally passionate on the field himself, playing softball for nearly 50 years, an achievement honored by his 2022 induction into the Columbus Softball Hall of Fame. Come basketball season, he was a devoted follower of his Kentucky Wildcats and rarely missed a game.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of over 21 wonderful years, Maxine Littrell; his former wife and mother of his sons, Pat Littrell; his sons, Jody (Kim) Littrell and Chris (Christine) Littrell; his step-children, Megan (Ben) Watson, Shanan Adkins, and Brett (Amanda) Adkins; his grandchildren, Nick Littrell, Paige (Zach) Sanders, Carter Littrell, and Carson Littrell; and five cherished step-grandchildren.
