I once told Jim that he was my hero .... because he loved Jess with never a thought of giving up or leaving. Jim instantly pushed back! 'You're so wrong', he said. "Jess is the Hero. So is Nancy. They're the ones with Courage." This message honors three special people: a man with a resolute moral compass; a woman who bravely accepted challenges she never sought; and their daughter who day after day demonstrated to all of us what it means to BE ALIVE.

Jim and I worked together many years ago. I remember what a proud, loving father he was, mentioning Jessica often.

I also happened to be in the crowd when Jessica graduated from North in'07. What a special moment that was!

My sympathies to Jim and the Humpf family.
