

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church with Father Marty Peter officiating. Calling will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday with a prayer service at 3:45 p. m. and from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Easter Seals Society, Hospice of South Central Indiana or St. Bartholomew Catholic Church.

Mr. Wetzel worked 35 years for Arvin Industries where he was a systems analyst. He was a graduate of Indiana University.
He was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus, a former president of Columbus Optimist Club, and a member and past president of Columbus and Indiana Chapters of the Easter Seals Society and Organaires.
Born in Vincennes Sept. 8, 1925, Mr. Wetzel was the son of George Joseph and Christy Pearl Dettrow Wetzel. He married Maxine L. Gress Dec. 26, 1965, in Columbus.
He is survived by daughters, Nena J. (Allen) Parker of Columbus and Shirley L. (Greg) Ross of Columbus; a stepdaughter, Barbara (Duane) Champion of Tucson, AZ,; a step daughter-in-law, Liza Tresler, Columbus; sisters, Joan Jewell and Barbara Murphy of Vincennes; a brother, George R. (Janice) Wetzel of Vincennes; grandchildren, Danielle, Sarah and Jason Winters, Christine (Tyler) Priest, Melissa and Russell Ross, all of Columbus; stepgrandchildren, June Estes and Duane Champion Jr. of Tucson, Jennifer Silva of Ignacio, Colo., Rebecca Moore of Michigan, Stas Lazko of Tennessee, Olga Lazko of Columbus and Tracy (Doug) Hoffman of Columbus; great-grandchildren, Lily Priest of Columbus and Delila Priest, due in November; and stepgreat-grandchildren, Katie, Jase and Haleigh Hoffman of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on March 8, 2005; a stepson, Thomas Tresler; a brother, Herman Wetzel; sister, Murl Fuller and a stepgrandson, Andrew Parker.
