I grew up with Bill and Lorene as my neighbors.  It's hard to tell stories about those days without mentioning their names.  I learned to ride my bike on their driveway, eat watermelon off the rind, and play baseball in their field.  They celebrated many holidays together with my family  even filled in at school on Grandparent's Day.  I loved them both so much!  Lorene is such a special part of all my Indiana memories and beyond.  I will always treasure the beautiful quilt you sent me on my wedding day.  Thank you for being such an amazing part of my life!  I love you and miss you!

Lorene and Bill were such a big part of the lives of my children and me! Lorene had such a beautiful spirit and such a giving heart. They were "grandparents" to my children and such supportive friends to me!! Lorene and I worked on aprons for her food service convention...she took first place two years in a row!! She was so pleased! I'm so glad that Lorene was able to visit my family when we moved to Wisconsin. She was definitely a part of our family in so many ways! I will always remember you, Lorene as a friend and confidant...rest in peace! You are loved and will be missed!

Lorene was a grandmother to me since my real grandparents lived 5 hours away and we did not get to see them very often. My family and I lived a few houses down from Lorene and Bill for my entire childhood. My sister and brothers and I would ride our bikes on their driveway, help pick vegetables from their garden and just sit on their picnic table and talk. She was certainly a special person in my life and she will be missed.

She was not just my neighbor growing up, she was also my friend. The fondest memories I have of my child hood we're learning to ride my bike in her driveway and sitting outside her front door talking until the sun went down. Most people talk about going back in time, what they would do differently or how they would change their lives. For me, I would go back in time just to relive these amazing experiences. I love you Lorene, and though I'm sad about you leaving this earth, I'm happy that I've had the pleasure of having you in my life.

Lorene was like a mother to me after I moved into her neighborhood in 1997.  She was a friend, an advisor and someone who brought a sense of calm to the my life as a single mother. Her strength, patience and endurance has been such an inspiration.  Lorene was a true example of living our her faith Job 12:12 talks about how  wisdom is found among the aged and  long life brings understanding. Lorene was such an example of this. She shared in a way that made simplicity out of the complex, she brought understanding to confusion. I don't think she ever really realized how much of an impact she had. She never complained, but instead focused on how blessed she was.   Her simple way of looking at life made all the chaos seem unimportant. She always made me laugh. I will miss this dear friend, but am very thankful God saw fit to provide me with the opportunity of having her as a friend and mentor. You have always been a part of our family and WE LOVE YOU !

Aunt Lorene will be greatly missed by our family! She was the sister of Woodrow Griggs, my husband's father! She was always happy and had kind words and good thoughts for everyone! Rest in peace Aunt Lorene! We love you! Randle, Wanda and Amanda Griggs!

I taught at East for 30 years. Lorene is one of my fondest memories; her cheerful greeting every lunch period; her chit chat about family; her secret "extra" servings; talk about her beloved "Bill." The smile, the wit, the sparkle in her eyes. She was a treasure to all she met!  We moved away from Columbus in 2002 but Lorene and Bill, who helped build East, are what made our 30 years there so wonderfully memorable. Our thoughts are with the family!
