Lowell was born in Bartholomew County on December 15, 1930 to the late James and Ruby Anderson. He married Dortha Powell on November 5, 1954 in Columbus. She survives.
Mr. Anderson is a veteran of the US Army serving from 1951 – 1953. He attended First Baptist Church and was employed by The Republic for 36 years.
Lowell enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening and woodworking. He also loved reading, travel and history trivia.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Ralph Anderson.
Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Dortha Anderson; children, Mike (Jill) Anderson, Linda (Jeff) Cleland, Betsy (Tim) Sproessig, and Barry Anderson; grandchildren, Daniel Anderson, Sarah Anderson, Benjamin (Liz) Cleland, Molly (Dustin) Crabtree, Natalie (Josh) Wright, and Carol (Craig) Brinkman; great-grandchildren, Sophia, Lucy, Makayla, Cameron, Teegan, Faylinn, Jaxson, Micah and Elliette; and sister, Polly Anderson. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at Myers-Reed Chapel with Rev. Dan Cash officiating. Burial will follow at Hope Moravian Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time also on Wednesday.
Memorials in Lowell’s name are suggested to the Hawcreek Flatrock Area Endowment or to First Baptist Church, Columbus.
