Martha Hearld Rice

She was born in Jackson, Kentucky, September 24, 1929, the daughter of Boyd and Dicie Hearld. She married Rufus Rice Sr., in Scottsburg, October 13, 1951. He died January 21, 2010.

She retired from Dolly Madison after 17 years of service.

She is survived by sons, Rufus Rice Jr. of Cincinnati, Kenny Rice of Columbus and Rick (Kathy) Rice of Edinburgh; a sister, Rachael Gay of Columbus; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Steve Boyd Rice; a sister; and five brothers.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Hathaway-Myers Chapel on Pearl Street with the Rev. Charles Kelley officiating. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Calling will be from noon until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
