He retired from Cummins Inc. in 1985. Mr. Gustafson was a member of Grace Lutheran Church for 56 years. He had been active in a number of boards: Elders, ushers, trustees, Evangelism, adult curriculum, nominating, Bible study, prayer groups, small group leader, and adult education leader.
Mr. Gustafson served in the United States Navy during WWII in the South Pacific area from 1944 to 1946. His interests were art, golf, down hill skiing, and reading.
He was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota on September 4, 1926, the son of Emil and Edith Gustafson. He married Leona Gierke on May 17, 1952.
He is survived by five children, Naomi, Annette, Jeffrey, Joel, and Mark; 7 grandchildren, Alisha, Lucas, Jessica, Jacob, Craig, Zachary, and Natalie; and 8 great-grandchildren, Gavin, Grace, Savannah, Payton, Will, Kimberlyn, Braiden, and Autumn.
A memorial service for Mr. Gustafson will be held Tuesday, March 8 at 2 pm at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor John Armstrong officiating. Inurnment will take place at Garland Brook cemetery at a later date.
