Obituary of Paul Marlin Romine

Paul Marlin Romine, died peacefully on March 20, 2019, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana. He was born in Bartholomew County, November 30, 1924, the son of Roy K. Romine and Ila (Burns) Romine. He attended Columbus High School. He served in the Army Air Corp. from April 1943 until October 1945 and served with the 8th Air Force 452 Bomb Group in England from January 1944 until June 1945. On September 7, 1946, he married Doris C. Austin, the daughter of Charles and Edna Austin of Madison, Illinois. Paul and Doris had three children, and four grandchildren. He graduated from Madison Illinois High School in 1946 and graduated as an accountant from Summers College of Commerce, East St. Louis, Illinois, in 1948. He also completed several courses at St. Louis University. In September 1948 he was employed by Union Starch and Refining Company in Granite City, Illinois. He was transferred to the Columbus, Indiana office in 1959. He was a member of the Budget Executive Institute and was President of the Indianapolis Chapter during 1964 and 1965. He remained with Union Starch until their closing on January 1, 1968. From January 1968 until April 1974, he was a Comptroller for Sieco, Inc. From September 1974 until he retired in July 1982, he was an Accountant at Cummins Engine Company. Paul loved golf, fishing, hunting, and traveling. He was adept in home and auto repairs and enjoyed keeping everything in top shape. He also baked an awesome loaf of Italian bread and perfected many of his own baking recipes. He is survived by his wife, daughters, Barbara Romine of Columbus, Diana Davidson Romine of Columbus, a son, Keith (Tanya) Romine of Columbus; and grandchildren, Leslie (Jason) Young of Southport, Joel (Kim) Davidson of Austin, Texas, Claire Romine of Indianapolis, a sister, Ilene Stoughton of Columbus, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kathryn Davidson, his parents, brothers, Warren, Richard, and Roy Jr., and sister, Norma Jean Haley. A service for Paul will be held Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Myers-Reed Chapel with Rev. Virgil Clotfelter officiating. Entombment will follow at Garland Brook Mausoleum with military honors from the Bartholomew County Honor Guard. Visitation will be held from 12 p.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials in Paul's name may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or donor's choice. Myers-Reed Chapel is serving the Romine family.
