Mr. Lay was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy. He also loved genealogy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jewell B. Lay; and two sisters, Ruth Everroad and Peggy Dollard.
Ralph is survived by his loving son, Joel Lay and his wife, Mary, of Columbus; and grandsons, Henry Bishop Lay of Tampa, FL, and Samuel George Lay of Columbus.
A private service will be held at a later date.
Memorials in his name should be directed to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
