

Ralph was born April 7, 1923, in Jennings County, Indiana, the son of Ralph A. Lynn, Sr. and Ella Cheever Lynn. He was raised on a small farm on the banks of Sand Creek by his great uncle and aunt, John and Maggie Lynn. He married Mary Margaret Ketchum on October 4, 1944.
A 1941 graduate of Vernon High School, he served his country during WW II in the U.S. Army 42nd Rainbow Division. He was captured during the Battle of the Bulge and confined as a prisoner of war in Plauen, Germany until liberated.
After employment with Morgan Packing Company, Noblitt-Sparks, Reeves Pulley, Allison’s and Hamilton’s, Mr. Lynn began employment with Cummins Engine Company in 1950 and retired in 1983 as a final engine inspector.
He was a founding member and former Trustee of Sandy Hook United Methodist Church.
Funeral service will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at Myers~Reed Chapel on 25th Street with Rev. Harvey Taylor officiating. Calling will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and from 9:00 a.m. Wednesday until service time. Burial, with military rites by the Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard, will be at Westport Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.myers-reed.com.
He is survived by sons, Thomas R. (Nancy) Lynn, Douglas A. (Ruth) Lynn and Ronald G. (Nikki) Lynn, all of Columbus; daughter, Linda K. Moore of Cookeville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Adam Lynn of Colorado Springs, CO, Megan Dettle of Woodbridge, VA, Brandon Lynn of Indianapolis, Benji Lynn and Carey Likens of Columbus, Jonathan Lynn of Indianapolis, Pennie Casey and Gavin Moore of Cookeville, TN, Braden Moore of Charlotte, NC; 12 great grandchildren.
