He was born April 28, 1940 in Massillon, OH to Ivo and Helen Gerber.
He spent several years in the Crosier monastery in Hastings, NE in the 1950’s.
Upon leaving the brotherhood he joined his family in Gainesville, GA and graduated from Perry Business School.
In 1960 the family moved to Edinburgh, IN.
He worked at Ad Kraft printing in Columbus before starting his career at Cummins.
While at Cummins he had the opportunity to spend several years working in the UK.
During that time and throughout his life he enjoyed traveling the world. He took his younger sisters on many trips around the Midwest.
On a trip to the Philippines he met the love of his life, Rogelio Panique in 1993. They were married on May 20, 2021.
Ramon retired from Cummins after 30 years of service. After retiring he spent several years working at the Columbus Inn and The ConferenceWorks!.
Ramon enjoyed music. He spent many a night at the Little Nashville Opry and the many venues on the IU campus. He was a regular at the Columbus Philharmonic presentations.
Ramon will be greatly missed by his husband Rogelio (better known to family and friends as Boyet), his sisters Sue Gerber, Sharon (Bill) Krieg, Sheila (Bill Austin) Gerber,
nieces Hollis Austin and Kevlynn (Kenny) Bradley and nephews Roy (Stacy) Caligan, Ivo Austin and Loren, Tim and Paul (Rebecca) Krieg.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Sally Caligan.
In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or the Indiana University Foundation Society of the Friends of Music of Indiana University.
A memorial service will be conducted Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at Myers~Reed Chapel on 25th Street with Rev. Nic Cable officiating. Visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Leave a special memory or condolences to the family at www.myers-reed.com.
