Born on August 17, 1935, in Dunkirk, IN, Bob was the son of Gilbert and Marcella (Felton) Losure. He proudly served his country in the United States Army.
A lifelong man of faith and service, Bob was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church in Columbus, where he sang in the Chancel Choir, rang with the Chancel Ringers, and shared his musical talents for many years. He also served as a former choir director at Taylorsville Methodist Church. Music was one of Bob’s greatest passions, and he was an accomplished guitarist who found joy in sharing his gift with others.
Bob graduated from Columbus High School in 1954, where he excelled as both a football player and swimmer. His dedication in the pool earned him the distinction of being a state champion swimmer.
His working career reflected his versatility and strong work ethic. He began by teaching guitar lessons at Hinkle’s Music Store before working as a draftsman at Cummins. He later joined the family business at Snyder Grain Elevator, where he spent many years until retirement. Never one to stay idle, Bob continued working at MIG Supply and later part-time at Lowe’s.
Outside of work, Bob loved spending time on the water. Whether fishing, boating, or waterskiing, he cherished every opportunity to enjoy the outdoors with family and friends.
Bob was deeply involved in the Masonic fraternity. He was a member and Past Master of St. Johns Lodge and was also a member of the Scottish Rite.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Nancy Snyder Losure; and his brother, Jim Losure.
He is survived by his daughter, Janie (Mark) Gordon of Venice, FL; his son, David (Terri) Losure of Columbus; grandchildren, David (Rosa) Losure II of San Tan Valley, AZ, Heather (Steve) Sumner of Mesa, AZ, Amy (Aaron) Shaff of Indianapolis, and Chris (Kayla) Gordon of Columbus; and great-grandchildren, Evania and Annabella Losure, Maddie and Tyler Marshall, Oliver and Nora Shaff, and Preston Gordon.
