

Kathryn " Katie" Howard Mustine departed this earth for her heavenly home on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at Carriage Court Assisted Living Facility, in Washington Court House, Ohio. Katie has been a resident there for fourteen months and had been in failing health.
Katie was born in Ashland, Kentucky to Brady D. and Anna Cornett Howard. She lived most of her life in Washington Court House before enjoying retirement life in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Katie was a 1946 graduate of Washington High School. She attended Bowling Green State University where she received her teaching certificate. She was a teacher at Madison Mills elementary school.
Katie married Bud Mustine in 1948 and together they had four children, whom she loved dearly. While living in Washington Court House, Katie enjoyed Gradale Sorority, Mother Circle and being a very active a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she became a trustee.
Katie and Bud retired in 1986 to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. They were active members of The First Presbyterian Church and volunteered with the Friends of the Grand Strand Hospital. Katie enjoyed having family and friends visit her in Myrtle Beach, where she always made time for a seafood meal and walk on the beach with her visitors!
Katie loved holiday time especially the 4th of July with her eight grandchildren! A tradition started to ensure lasting memories of family fun at Myrtle Beach. T-shirts, hats, parades beach time, lemon lush, special meals and drinks were of tall order for the first week in July at Grandma Kate's and Grandpa Bud's House!!
Katie was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Bud Mustine, a son Bill Mustine and two sisters, Janet Howard Davis and Margaret Howard Alkire.
Those surviving to cherish her memory are a son, Charles David Mustine (Becky) of New Albany, Ohio; two daughters Rebecca Mustine Roberts (Jerry) of Pawleys Island, South Carolina, Cynthia Mustine Carter (Elwood) of Laconia, New Hampshire and eight grand children, Andrea Mustine, Spencer Mustine, Emma Mustine Starkey (Daniel), Judson Roberts (Jackie) Margaret Roberts McGill (Chase), Kathryn Roberts Harris (Russell), Allison Heishman, Ross Carter (Jamie); two great-grand children, Georgie Starkey, and Charlie Carter, and one sister Jean Howard Smith.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST. The family will be observing private services for Katie with inurnment at Washington Cemetery.
