

Al H. "Spud" Winegardner, IV, age 67, passed away suddenly at his home on February 15, 2021. He was born in Columbus, OH on February 13, 1954 to Ruth and Al Winegarder, III. Al was a graduate of Central High School, Class of 1972, where he excelled at baseball. Al was a member of Moose Lodge #11. He thoroughly enjoyed his years of membership and many friends made at the Moose Lodge, where he was a past-Governor, and an active participant in Charity Fund Raising. Al volunteered at Gladden Community House and was a coach and official of both baseball and softball. He loved fishing and bowling. Al is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary Ellen (nee Hobson) Winegardner; children, Melisa (Ron) Follrod, Melinda (Gregory) Pfadt; and Al "Butch" (Eileena) Winegardner V; grandchildren, Robert Follrod, Anna (Jordan) Stevens, Cassandra Pfadt, Danny Spencer II, Leigha Winegardner, Zena "Nikki" (Estephaun) Coplan; and Zachary Winegardner; great grandchildren, Jacob Stevens and Jae'la Goodman; sister, Marilyn McCafferty; many other relatives and friends. Friends will be received from 4-7:00pm Monday, February 22, 2021 at Heart and Hope by Schoedinger Hilltop, 3030 West Broad Street, where a funeral service will be held at 10:00am Tuesday, February 23, 2021 (masks are required, please observe "social distancing"); interment Grove City Cemetery. Al was generous with his time. He loved animals and a good joke. Above all, he loved his family. Al will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.
