I first met Alan at the ISTA conference in March.  We both presented on Wednesday morning, and he approached me after my presentation with very nice comments.  I appreciated his generous spirit and what he had to say.  If that's indicative of the kind of man he was, I'm sure you will miss him greatly.  Please accept my condolences.

I got to know Alan through work, and alot of traveling with him.  Alan can't be replaced.  Truly a great guy in every way.  Linda and family, very sorry for your loss.  Brady Israel

Linda, I am so sorry to hear of Alan's passing.  I pray that the love and support from your family and friends, wonderful memories of your wonderful life together and the love you shared will confort you now and when times get difficult. The staff and membership of ISTA (International Safe Transit Association) are terribly shocked and saddened at Alan's passing.  Not only was he a long-time active member and colleague, he was an industry leader, a frequent speaker at our events, an ultimate professional, and -- most importantly and always -- a true friend to us all. Linda, no words can spare you grief, but hopefully a few words of what a kind and gentle man Alan always was to me and others he worked with might help.  We shared the same birthday too, which we got a kick out of.  But working with Alan was always pleasant.  Not just sometimes, but everyday Alan was always a gentleman and a gentle man.  He was always happy to be going somewhere on vacation with his family or just spending time with his family.  He loved his family and you could tell because his eyes would glisten when he would talk about it.  He was never too busy to explain things to me at work and always took the time to ask how I was doing and make a point to speak each day.  I will miss him so much and I am so thankful that I had the pleasure working with him.  He truly was a gift.  My prayers will continue for you and your family during this time of loss.
