Alice E. Duke Morrison Bernsdorf

Alice Elizabeth (Duke), age 94, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord on Wednesday, February 1, 2012. She was born January 24, 1918 in Newark, Ohio to the late Clyde and Martha (Westbrook) Duke. She grew up on a farm and she and her husband, Raymond, farmed for many years. She was a wonderful Mother and Grandmother known for her “Sunday dinners”. She retired from Westerville North High School where she was known as “the ice cream lady” for many years. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Raymond Morrison and Edward Bernsdorf; brothers, Miller, Kenneth and Lester Duke; sisters, Mary Duke and Virginia Moore; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Richard Cross; granddaughter, Diana (Cross) Strider. Survived by her sons, Robert (Carol) Morrison and Phillip (Evelyn) Morrison; grandchildren, Cheryl Holbrook, Jeffrey Cross, Beth (Thomas) Flynn, Anne (Brett) Starkey, Chris Morrison; great-grandchildren, Chris Flynn, Jonathan Strider, Mason and Corbin Starkey; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 12pm Monday, February 6, 2012 at Schoedinger Northeast Chapel, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., Gahanna, OH 43230 where family will receive friends beginning at 11am; Pastor Jeff Martin, officiating; interment Green Hill Cemetery, Johnstown, Ohio.
