

Alise Katrina Zageris, age 91, of Prairie Township Franklin County, died Mother's Day May 13, 2012. She was born January 12, 1921 in Riga, Latvia. Her parents were Augusts and Anna Plikss Beze. She was raised by aunt and uncle Anlize and Matiss Meters. Preceded in death by husband Arturs and brother Roberts, she is survived by sons Arturs, Ivars and Janis, granddaughters Maija, Larissa and Danielle and daughters-in-law Sharlene and Ann. She was member of Columbus Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church for more than half century, worked as saleslady at Lazarus for two decades. When Hitler gave in to Stalin as to who was to get Latvia which belonged to neither WWII was on. In 1945 German armies were in retreat everywhere except for Kurzeme, the western part of Latvia. On capitulation day the 19th division of Latvian Legion, the most decorated division in the German army, was headquartered in the farm community from which Alise and family had to flee half year earlier. Memorial service will be held Saturday June 9, 2012 at Schoedinger Northwest Chapel, 1740 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington preceded by calling hour 1-2 P.M.
