

Alison Grace Tinnes, 34, of Gahanna passed away on July 26, 2015, after a brave battle with colon cancer. She was born on March 24, 1981, in Mansfield, to John and Cheri (Warner) Brent. She was a graduate of Westerville South High School, Ashland University where she earned her Bachelors Degree in Education, and University of Dayton where she earned her Masters Degree in Counseling. Alison taught 1st and 2nd grades at Walnut Creek Elementary in the Olentangy Local Schools for 12 years. Her kindness and compassion guided many young lives to learn not only academics, but to always strive to make the world a more caring place. Her gracious character and gentle influence will continue to impact the school community for many years. She enjoyed music and attending concerts with her husband. She cherished every second spent with her son. She also loved spending time with her dogs, friends and family. She is survived by her husband Brett Tinnes; her cherished son, Oliver Ryan Tinnes; parents John and Cheri Brent; her mother and father-in-law Alexis and Alan Tinnes; grandparents Walter (Greta) Brent and Robert (Mary Ellen) Warner; aunts Cindy (Kenneth Hambrick) Warner and Meri Jo Warner; uncle Tim (Marianne) Brent; cousins Phoebe and Shelby Clouser; Isaac and Eli Brent and Jay Gillespie; and her beloved dogs, Lola and Zoey. She was preceded in death by her grandmother Joan Warner. Her family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8pm Thursday, July 30 at the SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 East Johnstown Road. A funeral service will be held there on Friday at 10am with Andrew Hoover officiating. Private interment will follow.
