

Alma was born in Huntington, WV, on April 9, 1935, to the late Elijah O. and Bertha (Miller) Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 7 siblings.
Alma met and married her husband of 67 years, Dick McCoy, who survives, when they both worked at Kilgore's in Westerville in 1952, marrying shortly thereafter. Together, they began a family and are survived by son Dickie, and daughter Tonia (Gerry) Duncan; four grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 16 great great grandchildren.
Additionally, Alma is survived by siblings Junior Smith, Mary Castle, Helen Coleman, and Susie (Darrel) Neibert; sister-in-law Marie (Ray) Richardson; as well as numerous other family and friends.
After leaving Kilgore's, Alma worked for a time at Western Electric, before leaving to stay home and raise her children. Upon Dick's retirement from Western Electric, he and Alma went together to auctioneering school in Indiana, then returned home to work for Wally Trout Auctioneer, prior to beginning their own McCoy's Auction Service. She was a hard worker, enjoyed keeping her home in the country, where she would hunt, fish, and ride her four wheeler. She was a homemaker in every sense of the word, devoted to her family, and exceptional at spoiling her grandchildren.
Friends may visit Tuesday, June 11, 2019 from 4-7PM at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., Gahanna, where a funeral service will be held Wednesday at 1PM. Committal will follow at Mifflin Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Alma's name may be made to Genesis Hospice, 713 Forest Ave, Zanesville, OH 43701.
