Alvin Eugene West, 75 of Columbus, died Thursday, September 13, 2012 after a brief battle with cancer. He was born March 21, 1937 in Pedro, OH to the late Squire and Mary (Carner) West. He was a loving father and grandfather and a very active member of Maize Road Baptist Church. He retired in 2008 after twenty five years with Mt. Carmel St. Ann’s Hospital. He is preceded in death by his wife Patricia and survived by four children Chuck (Liz) West, Nina Close, Rachel Duvall and Esther (Chad) Thompson, eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Family will receive friends Monday from 4-8 pm at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Rd. where a funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11:30 AM. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
