Amy Wickes

Amy Alexandra Wickes: daughter, mother, sister, friend, prisoner, author, avid prison reform advocate and community leader, died on March 8, 2017 at the age of 45. Amy was born in Columbus, Ohio on April 6, 1971. Amy struggled with mental health illness, which eventually led to her spending 3 years in prison. After her release she dedicated her time and energy to raising awareness for the need of our judicial system to begin addressing mental health and addiction issues to reduce recidivism rates in our prisons. In 2014 Amy founded the charity, In the Name of Justice, to provide support to the children and families of the incarcerated. In 2015 she published her book From Privilege to Prison, which she wrote to document her life before, during and after prison. Amy believed wholeheartedly that God loves everyone and gives us each the opportunity to live our lives for others rather than self. Through her vow to help those who were also impacted by the prison system, Amy has influenced many lives. Amy is survived by her children, Alexander and Amelia Deeds; her parents Kathleen and Doug Reardon; her siblings Molly Mandel (Adam), Brian Reardon, Billy Wickes (Kaitlin), and 5 nieces and nephews. There will be a memorial service on April 6th at 7pm at the Franklin Park Conservatory, Palm House, where family will greet friends from 6-7pm and again after the service till 9pm.
