Andrew J. Shaffer

Andrew J. Shaffer, age 50, passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2010. He was born on March 13, 1960, and grew up in Grove City. He was a graduate of Grove City High School where he played drums in the band. After school, Andy served in the Ohio Air National Guard, also playing drums in the band and bugle corps, and then attended The Ohio State University. Andy was a project manager for Mid City Electric, and he was a proud member of IBEW Local 683 for more than 25 years. Andy loved music and dancing, and he enjoyed good food and good company. He was very social, and he had a positive outlook in every situation, no matter what. Andy lived and loved hard, and he will be missed for his beautiful eyes, his smile, and his great sense of humor. He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Shaffer. He is survived by his wife, Carol Shaffer; son, Joseph Andrew Shaffer; mother, Cecilia Shaffer; siblings, Steve (Dru) Shaffer, Jeanne (Tom) Hilt, Scott (Dr. Lynn) Shaffer, and Lori (Bill) Mavrakis; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, September 6, 2010, at the SCHOEDINGER NORRIS CHAPEL, 3920 Broadway, Grove City, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at Our Mother of Sorrows Chapel at St. Joseph Cemetery.
