Anna Leona Lombardi was born August 8, 1939 and passed away in her sleep on January 18, 2023. Anna was a true homemaker: master gardener, seamstress, carpenter, crafter, tole painter, cake and interior decorator, den mother and a maker of so many family meals. She loved babies, bird watching, being in nature, the color pink, eating sweets, Hallmark movies, emergency television dramas and PBS cooking shows. She graduated Hilliards High School in 1957, where she was a varsity cheerleader. Anna was a strong, Christian woman whose love of her life was her family. She learned everything she could to take care of each of them throughout her life. Later, while under the incredible care of the Mount Carmel hospice team and her devoted and loving son, Steven and his family, she learned the lessons of empathy and gratitude. She is preceded in death by her beloved daddy, Frank Whipple, her mother Frances, her sister and best friend Millie, her two eldest sons Joey (the prodigal son, gone too soon) and David (Dave, Swamp Fire, constant companion of his father, artist and rebel) and her “baby forever”, her husband Joe. Through her steadfast and loving care of him, she learned to be a patient nurse, a diligent problem solver and a renowned wound-care specialist. Anna is survived by her youngest son, Steven Lombardi (Brooke) and her only grandchild, Ely. Also survived by her special sisters-in-law Rosemary, Gloria, Carolyn, Carole and Janie and many loving nieces and nephews, including doting nephew Rodger and dedicated nieces Fran and Jackie who gave her much support and love throughout her life. Aunt Annie will be missed by all as we smile, thinking of her dancing with her husband once again in heaven. Friends and family can gather on Tuesday, January 24 from 10:30 AM to 12 noon with the service following at 12 noon at Advantage Funeral & Cremation by Schoedinger Hilltop, 3030 W Broad St., Columbus, OH 43204. The interment will be immediately afterwards at Sunset Cemetery, 6959 W Broad Street, Galloway, Ohio 43119. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the funeral home to assist the family in final arrangements.
