

Annie L. Sykes, age 75, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 30, 2011. Annie was born in Hazard, Kentucky on December 21, 1935; she was the daughter of the late George and Rosie Jordan. Annie was married to Charles H. Sykes Sr. for over 30 years. To their union were born three children who she is survived by, Charles Sykes, Jr. of Gahanna, Quevenia (Harold) Harshaw of Newark and Debra (Quinton) Hall of Lithopolis; grandchildren, Johnathan Sykes, Chesna Sykes and Keia Sykes; 4 great grandchildren; siblings, John (Lucille) Jordan of Springfield, Carlos Jordan of Columbus, Dock (Annice) Jordan of Seattle, WA, Carolyn Jordan of Cincinnati, Lillie Jordan of Dayton and Claudia Banks of Cleveland; sister-in-law, pastor and friend, Lemmie Ruth Jordan; and a host of family and friends. Annie L. Sykes, better known as Mother Sykes, was loved and adored by her church family and by all. She was a church mother, choir member, kitchen worker and had many talents and professions during her service at Greater Jordon Temple. You could often hear her during church playing her washboard to the sounds of music and through the movement of God. She enjoyed cooking for her family and traveling throughout the U.S. Annie will be remembered as a selfless person opening her home to many. She will be remembered for her smile, her giving spirit and gift of hospitality. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at 11am at the Greater Jordan Temple, 52 Reeb Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43207, where family will receive friends one hour prior.
