It is with great sadness that the family of Arline (Boso) Ries, announces her passing on Saturday, 1/5/2019, at the age of 83 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Ries, as well as her parents Clyde and Arlene (Shadford) Boso and siblings, Charles, Robert, Gene, Ralph, Clyde Jackson and Dorothy Carol.
Arline’s family was the focus of her life and her sons Scott (Rhonda) Ries and Steven (Kristin) Ries, daughters Karen (John) Botti and Kathy (Alan) Chapman and step-son Gary (Marilyn) Ries were blessed to have her as their mother. She will be remembered by her grandchildren Jason (Stephanie); Krista (Trent), Joshua (Kelly); Jessica (Jim); Melissa (Greg), Morgan, Drake, Tonya, John David, Sean and Emily and 12 great grandchildren. Growing up in a large family on the south side of Columbus, there are many, many stories to be shared by her surviving siblings, Donald (Jean) Boso; James (Mary) Boso, Rosan Boso, Carl (Barb), Loretta (Larry) Anderson, who will miss her terribly. 8 brothers and 3 sisters make for lots and lots of nieces, nephews and extended family and dear friends to keep her memory alive.
She held numerous administrative assistant jobs throughout her career, retiring in 1985 from Phillips Petroleum. She loved her community and volunteered in numerous capacities with numerous organizations. She was President of the Forest Park Civic Association and the editor of The Forester for 30+ years. She also served as President of Northland Community Council, the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, to name a few. She was often referred to as a “professional volunteer” by her husband, all while working and taking care of her family. She loved to be busy, was detailed oriented and a whiz at math. Her family wanted for nothing as she was quick to assist with whatever they needed. She loved family vacations to Canada, going on cruises with her friends, attending family gatherings, bowling and baking/cooking everyone’s favorite items for them to enjoy. She leaves a legacy of memories for all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to their team (Boso’s Bunch) for the Columbus Alzheimer’s Walk by going to http://act.alz.org/site/TR?fr_id=12442&pg=team&team_id=527400 to do so.
Visitation is Thursday 4:00pm - 7:00pm at the Schoedinger Worthington Chapel where the service will be held Friday 10:00am
