

Arthur William Westbury, 91, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2012 at Circleville Care and Rehab. He was born February 15, 1921 in Circleville the son of the late Emma (Buskirk) and Robert Westbury. His family moved to Darbyville when he was 4 years old and he resided there through his adult life. He served as the youngest mayor at that time in the state of Ohio. Art attended the Christian Union church and pastored a street mission and later Millport Chapel. He served as a janitor at Muhlenberg School. He worked at Mt. Sterling Glove Co., Orient Institute and Sweden Freezer in Columbus. He built a few houses in Darbyville and enjoyed fishing and working on cars. He was a WWII Army veteran. Art was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Leo Rohrer; brother, George and sister, Mary Rohrer. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Hazel Collins Westbury; son, Robert (Debbie) Westbury of FL; daughter, Glenda (Richard) Christian of Crown City; grandsons, Shawn (Dawna) Young of Arkansas and Robert Westbury, Jr. of FL; great-grandchildren, Cameron and Brianna Young. Art will be greatly missed by special niece, Chris (Daniel) Shook; and her sisters, Delores, Joan and Brenda; special friends, Dee (Matt) Robinson; and the staff and residents of Circleville Care and Rehab.
Funeral service will be held at 11:30 A.M. Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home with Pastor Dale Wilkinson and Minister Molly Darst officiating. Burial will be in Muhlenberg Cemetery, Darbyville. Friends may call from 9:30 until the time of service at the funeral home.
