Austin Wittmann Snyder passed away unexpectedly at his home in Grandview on Sunday, May 4, 2025. Austin was 39 years old. Born May 9, 1985 in Columbus to Joel and Christine Snyder, Austin was raised in Upper Arlington. Austin was a beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, and friend. Austin was a 2003 graduate of St. Charles Preparatory School and a proud Ohio Bobcat, having graduated from Ohio University in 2007, majoring in Finance and Business Information Systems. Upon graduation Austin started in real estate finance with Red Capital Group and remained a cherished member of the same core team of colleagues through various corporate transitions, ultimately becoming Director at Lument.
In 2017, Austin met the love of his life, best friend, and “Snug“, Beth. They had an instant connection and were inseparable. They became engaged in Charleston, South Carolina in June 2021 and married September 24, 2022 in Columbus. Austin and Beth shared their love of travel, with favorite stops in Italy, Mexico, California, New York, Charleston, and Washington, DC.
After an end-stage kidney disease diagnosis in May 2021, Austin received the gift of a kidney transplant in July 2024 from a generous friend, and experienced by all accounts a renaissance. In October 2023, Austin became an uncle to Maggie, with whom the affection was mutual. Austin was a long-time and devoted friend to many, with a clever, witty, and hilarious sense of humor. He loved his family endlessly, sharing close relationships with his brother, cousins, and parents with his personal type of selfless, quiet love.
Austin is survived by his loving wife, Beth Sacks, parents Joel and Christine Snyder, brother Philip Snyder (Ellen Thomson), niece Maggie, and many beloved uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Joel and Gloria Snyder, and Warren Wittmann and Virginia Wittmann Hull.
Calling hours will be held Monday, May 12 from 1-2:30 pm at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST, 1740 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington, Ohio 43221, with a 2:30 pm service. A reception will follow at the Columbus Club, 181 E Broad Street, Columbus, OH 43215.
