Barbara E. Abbott

Barbara E. Abbott, age 79, of Columbus, OH, peacefully passed away on October 13, 2014. She was born to the late Ralph and Loretta (Hoctor) Lanning on February 28, 1935. She is survived by her loving children, Richard Butterfield, Rebecca Butterfield, Loretta Butterfield McGath, Tamara (Dirk) Eckels, and Ernest (Julie) Abbott. Barbara was a loving, compassionate and hardworking mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She worked for Marzetti's as well as for the Liqui-Box company for many years. She was a member of Grace Brethren Church and never met a stranger. Barbara enjoyed bell collecting, sewing, crocheting, and scrapbooking. She was very creative and loved to be hands on. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her brother, Ralph Lanning Jr.; second husband, Ernest C. Abbott; former husband, Charles E. Butterfield. Barbara is also survived by her grandchildren, Misty, Daidria, Brooke, Sarah, Joshua, Tim, Jeremy, Cameron, Caitlin, and Angela; 13 great-grandchildren; aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at the SCHOEDINGER MARGARUM NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown RD. (at Beecher RD) Gahanna, Ohio. Funeral Service will begin at 11am on Friday, October 17, 2014. Pastor James Custer officiating. Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association
