

Barbara E. Drugan, age 85, passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2011. She was born in Columbus on January 1, 1926, and attended St. Mary of the Springs Academy. After earning a degree in Elementary Education from The Ohio State University, Barbara began her teaching career. Known by her students as “Miss Barbara,” she taught kindergarten at Bexley from 1947-1979. She also served as a crossing guard for 27 years at the corner of Cassingham Road and Fair Avenue. Barbara dedicated her life to teaching, and she will be dearly missed by her students and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Edwin and Gertrude Drugan; sister, Julianne (Drugan-Brock) Daily; and niece, Sally Brock. She is survived by her beloved companion of 64 years, Bill Emig; nieces, Cindy Brock Mackin and Susan (Bob) Lutz; great nieces and nephews, Michelle Burckard, Alicia (Navin) Dadlani, Jason Lutz, and Brian Lutz; great-great nieces and nephews, Courtney, Alyssa, Coby, and Jordan Burckard, and Ashton and Alaina Dadlani; and brother-in-law, Bruce Daily. She is also survived by her students, which she considered her extended family, and by many wonderful friends, especially Diane Niermeyer, Tim Madison, and Margaret Whalen. The family wishes to express special thanks to Heartland Hospice, and to all of Barbara’s friends at St. Catharine’s Catholic Church.
