Barbara was born in Columbus, Ohio, to Anthony and Mabel Christ. She graduated from South High School with the Class of 1960 and remained connected to her classmates, often attending alumni luncheons. She was a devoted member of Hoge Memorial Presbyterian Church, where she was actively involved in the women’s circles. Barbara was a loving and supportive wife who faithfully stood beside her husband in all of his activities. Together, they enjoyed traveling and making wonderful memories throughout their years of marriage. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Mabel Christ, and her brother, Robert A. Christ. She is survived by her husband, Frederick A. Mapes II; her son, Michael D. (Regina) Mench; and other family members and dear friends who will cherish her memory. Barbara will be lovingly remembered for her faith, her devotion to her family, and the many lives she touched throughout her 86 years with visitation will be held at Hoge Memorial Presbyterian Church, 2930 W Broad Street, Columbus, OH 43204, US, on October 3, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a Memorial Service at Hoge Memorial Presbyterian Church, 2930 W Broad St, Columbus, OH 43204, US, on October 3, 2026, at 11:00 am.
