

Barbara A. Wise, age 80 of Dublin, passed away March 22, 2011. Barbara was born and raised in Columbus, only child of Dorothy Mowery and the late Willoughby Mowery. Also preceded in death by her husband, Walter, and son-in-law, Philip Martin. Barbara graduated from North High School, Grant Hospital School of Nursing, and later went on to receive a Masters Degree in Education from The Ohio State University. Barbara dedicated her professional career as being a leader in the development of vocational nursing educational programs. She was the author of the leading text in the United States for Medical Assistant training, which is now in its seventh edition. In additional to her professional accomplishments, Barbara also managed to keep many nursing classmates together for over 60 years with annual newsletters and frequent reunions with the assistance of her dear friends, Pat Rockwell, Betty Buchsieb, and Thel Holmes. Barbara was a very outgoing and energetic woman, who cherished relationships with family and friends. Spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, was what made Barbara the happiest. She will be missed by her loving daughters, Carol Martin and Nancy (Kent) Vedder; and grandchildren, Philip Martin, and Elizabeth and Allison Vedder. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 A.M. Monday, March 28, 2011 at Northwest United Methodist Church, 5200 Riverside Dr., where family will receive friends from 10:30 A.M. until time of service Monday and also from 2-5 P.M. Sunday at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd. Rev. Tom Slack officiating. Private family burial.
