

Beatrice “Bea” J. (Rutledge) Hamilton, age 71 of Groveport, entered into eternal rest Thursday, March 25, 2010 after a battle with Parkinson’s. Bea was born September 19, 1938 in Dayton, and was a 1956 graduate of Patterson High School. In 1957, Bea married John Hamilton and moved to Boston, MA, where he was stationed in the Navy. They later moved to Columbus, where Bea worked for Xerox in the Weekly Reader Division for over 20 years. During that time, she attended Franklin University, where she studied accounting. Bea was gentle, soft-spoken, and a good listener. She was adamant about teaching children to read and was known for handing out books, especially for Halloween. She was an avid doll collector and loved to travel with her husband, visiting the covered bridges in Ohio and the Centennial barns. Preceded in death by her parents, Isaac and Naomi Rutledge, and infant brother, Sonny. Bea will be missed by her loving husband of 53 years, John A. Hamilton; sons, John (Debbie) and Tom (Sheryl) Hamilton; daughter, Dawn (Randy) Chesser; grandchildren, Carina, Christopher, Richard, Matthew, and Timothy, and great-grandchildren, Marty and Alyssa; brother, Gerald (Patsy) Rutledge; and sisters, Janet (George) Freese and Linda Rutledge. Family will receive friends Monday, March 29, 2010 from 4pm until the time of funeral services at 6pm at SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., Columbus.
